SpeakBible

Privacy Policy

Last updated 9 August 2026 · Effective 9 August 2026

This policy explains what the SpeakBible mobile app ("SpeakBible", "the app") collects, why, and what choices you have. SpeakBible is provided by Kloud45 ("we", "us"), which is the data controller for the information described here.

The short version

1. Information we collect

Account information

If you create an account, we collect your email address, and a display name if you provide one. Signing in with Google or Apple gives us the email address associated with that account. Sign in with Apple's Hide My Email is supported and we will only ever receive the relay address. You may also use the app anonymously, in which case no email is collected.

Authentication is handled by Firebase Authentication (Google LLC). We never see or store your password.

Content you save

Verses you bookmark, and your preferences such as your chosen translation, are stored against your account identifier in Google Cloud Firestore so they are available across your devices.

Voice input

When you use the microphone, speech recognition is performed by your device's built-in operating system capability. We do not record, receive, transmit, or store your audio. The recognised text is used to run your search. Your device's own speech recognition is governed by Apple's or Google's platform privacy policy.

Search history

Searches you run are kept as a recent-searches list against your account so you can return to them. Your search terms are also recorded in Firebase Analytics, linked to your account identifier, so we can understand which passages people look for and improve results.

Usage and diagnostic data

We use Firebase Analytics to understand which features are used. These events are linked to your account identifier and include the search terms you enter, the Bible references you open, and the references you save or remove. We use Firebase Crashlytics to receive crash reports containing device model, OS version, app version, and technical crash details; crash reports are not linked to your account.

Notifications

If you allow notifications, Firebase Cloud Messaging assigns your installation a device token so we can deliver them. You can turn notifications off at any time in your device settings.

Stored on your device only

Recently viewed passages and settings are cached locally on your device to speed up the app and reduce data use. This cache is removed when you uninstall the app.

A note on AI processing

When you request an explanation, summary, devotional, or prayer, the relevant Scripture text and any topic you typed are sent to Google's Gemini API to produce a response. We do not attach your name or email to these requests. Google's handling of that data is governed by its own terms and privacy policy. AI-generated content is a study aid and may contain errors.

3. Legal bases for processing

Where the UK GDPR or EU GDPR applies, we rely on: performance of a contract for account creation and saved content; legitimate interests for diagnostics, security, and improving the app; and consent for notifications and for microphone access, which you may withdraw at any time in your device settings.

4. How long we keep data

Account information and saved verses are kept until you delete your account, after which they are removed from our active systems within 30 days and from routine backups within 90 days. Crash and analytics data is retained on Firebase's standard retention schedule, up to 14 months. Anonymous sessions hold no personal data.

5. Your rights and choices

To exercise any of these, email support@kloud45.tech. We respond within 30 days.

6. Children's privacy

SpeakBible is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

7. Security

Data is transmitted over encrypted HTTPS connections and stored on Google Cloud infrastructure. Access to your saved content is restricted by security rules so that only your authenticated account can read or write it. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your information.

8. International transfers

Our service providers process and store data on servers that may be located outside your country, including in the United States. These transfers rely on the safeguards offered by those providers, such as Standard Contractual Clauses.

9. Changes to this policy

If we make material changes we will update the date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify you in the app. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated policy.
